LION CHRISTINE IS AWARDED “THE GOLDEN BIB”

In addition to serving as club treasurer at Brooklyn
Prospect Heights Lions Club, Lion Christine Kirton has
worked with NYRR (New York Road Runners) for 15+
consecutive years.. She volunteered at the water stations
giving out water to runners at NYC Marathon with
th
District 20-K1 Lions on 4 Avenue in Brooklyn. She
continued to assist at various races in NYC, as a NYRRR
volunteer. She was assigned to several areas and one of
the responsibilities as a “chip clipper” was to record the
runner’s time, as documented in the chips attached to
the running shoe. She served at bag checks, T-shirt
distribution, water distribution and number registration..
She was later promoted to volunteer leader and served
as an ombudsperson to manage and resolve problems.

On Marathon Sunday, Lion Christine can be found at the
start in Staten Island, at one of the villages as excited
and exhilarated as the runners and supporters from
around the world.

In recognition of her dedication and leadership at the
water station in getting the water cups filled and ready to
be consumed by the runners in record time , Lion
Christine was awarded “The Golden Bib”
