Nurse-Family Partnership
Our Nurse-Family
Partnership (NFP)
utilizes an evidence-
based model of free,
intensive, at-home
nursing assistance
provided to more
than 1,000 low-
income mothers
and their children in the Bronx and Nassau County.
The program pairs a nurse with a first-time mother-to-be,
starting as early in the pregnancy as possible and
continuing to the child’s second birthday. The nurse:
• Provides education to the mother
• Monitors the mother’s and infant’s health
• Promotes interactions between the mother and baby
that foster the child’s growth and development
• Works with mothers so they’ll become self-sufficient
and guides them in continuing their education and
finding employment
