epidermis by using skin donated from patients undergoing cosmetic surgery to be used to test
the products. In addition, the company can replace the products with the materials that are
made with the finest natural ingredients. Therefore, modern alternative methods are much
more accurate and need less money and time.
Next, let me describe about how cruel animal testing is. Animals in laboratory spent
their entire life like prisoners; even they have committed no crime. They languish in pain,
suffer from extreme frustration. Moreover, they dumped into their cage and they cannot get
any pain killer. We can see the proof under the U.S. law which stated animals are allowed to
be burned, shocked, poisoned, drowned, addicted to drugs and brain-damaged. No
experiment, no matter how painful or trivial, is prohibited and pain-killers are not required.
This law is causing millions of animals suffer and die in testing, training, and other
experiments. Therefore, I believe that non-animal tests are morally and ethically preferable.
In conclusion, animal testing for cosmetics should be banned because its reaction is
never going accurately reflect the reaction on human, it is old-fashioned and cannot
guaranteed effective, and cruel. Therefore, please take into consideration when next time we
put on our makeup to our face. Think about the animals that have sacrificed their lives for us
to make sure that the makeup safe for us to wear but actually it never works.
                         Thank you for your attention.

                                           (Dheanada Kusumaningrum/IPIREL 2016)

Let’s take a moment and think of ourselves. Imagine, you were just born in this world.
The love you feel from your parents is just a moment. You only have one month to live with
your family, in your home where you should be now. One month is the only time you had to
live a normal loving life. Then, you are torn away from your family while your immune
systems are not fully formed yet. Time for the rest of your life spent in tiny cages that you
could not even move around comfortably. This is your new home now and you won’t see your
family ever again. This is the life of almost every single circus animal. Baby animals are torn
away from their mothers shortly after birth. The animals like elephants, lions, tigers, and
chimpanzees are all very social animals by nature, yet in the circuses; they are taken away
from their mothers at a very young age and brought up in an environment where they cannot
exhibit many of their natural behaviors. This morning, I’d like to present about “Animals are
                  not clowns”.
Animal can carry the disease, which is transmissible to human. The reason for my
statement is that many circuses provide animals with inadequate veterinary care and living
space as well as giving them unclean water and inadequate ventilation, among other
inhumane practices. Elephants are chained and big cats are imprisoned in cramped, filthy
cages in which they eat, drink, sleep, defecate and urinate in the same place. As we know that
many diseases can be transferred by dirty places, right? We can see the evidence from an
exhibitor Larry Carden who has been using elephants, their name are Cindy, Betty, and Bo in
UniverSoul Circus performances. Both Betty and Bo have repeatedly tested reactive on blood
tests for tuberculosis, bacteria that can spread through the air, which puts anyone near an
