verbal fillers, you will learn not to use them as much. Ultimately, verbal fillers can be
distracting during a speech and detract from your credibility if used too frequently. Next
time you speak publicly, try pausing intentionally in between ideas so you will not be
tempted to ‘verbally think’ about what you are going to say next.

Task 3.7
GROUP WORK: In this activity, you will
practice how to deliver a short speech
with any given topics.
- Your teacher will divide the class in
groups and each group consists of
four or five members.
- Your group should decide the order
of the one who will be the first to
initiate the activity, then the second, markul.com
the third, and so on.
- Each students must prepare a topic
to be given to the group mate next
to him/her.
- In turn, each of students will have to
deliver a short speech within 3
minutes with the topic given.
For example, the first person will do a speech with the word BIRD given by the
second person for one minute. After that, he/she has to talk about the word JUNGLE
given by the second speaker for one minute. Finally, the fourth person will talk about
the word RIVER for one minute. The THREE WORDS given MUST RELATE TO EACH
OTHER. Then, the speech will be continued by the next speakers in turn.
