Fines & Charges
Fine : a fee charged for overdue books or violations
Late fee : a charge applied when returning books past the due date
Penalty : a consequence or punishment for not following rules
Overdue charge : the amount charged for returning items late
Replacement cost : the cost paid when an item is lost or damaged
Damage fee : payment required for a physically damaged item
Non-refundable : money that cannot be returned once paid

Violations & Misconduct
Violation : an act of breaking a rule or policy
Offense : a specific instance of rule-breaking
Misuse : improper or incorrect use (e.g., of library property or resources)
Tampering : interfering with or altering library equipment or materials
Plagiarism : presenting someone else’s work as one’s own
