Ns. Grace : “Perfect, just keep sipping and breathing through your nose. The worst part is almost
over. You’re doing an excellent job.”
Mrs. Sarah : “Is it in now?”
Ns. Grace : “Yes, the tube is in place now. I’m going to inject a small amount of air into the tube
while listening over your stomach for a “whoosh” sound using my (9) ………………………...
to check the NGT placement. Finaly, I will withdraw a small amount of fluid from the
tube and check its Ph using (10) ………………………………… to make sure the tube is in your
stomach. The gastric contents should have a pH of 5.5 or lower.”
Mrs. Sarah : “Okay, that wasn’t as bad as I thought.”
Ns. Grace : “I told you, you did great! Now I’ll secure the tube to your nose with
(11)……………………………………… , and it’ll stay in place as long as you need it. I’ll also flush
the tube with some water using a (12) ………………………………………………… to keep it clear.
“Alhamdulillah, I’ve finished the procedure, how do you feel about it?”
Mrs. Sarah : “Oh God, that wasn’t as bad as I thought.”
Ns. Grace : “Okay, If you feel any discomfort or it starts to bother you, just let me know and I’ll
adjust it.”
Mrs. Sarah : “Thanks, Nurse Grace. I appreciate you explaining everything.”
Ns. Grace : “You’re very welcome. I’ll check on you regularly to make sure everything’s working
well. Hope you’re getting better soon. Allahumma rabban nasi, adzhibil ba'sa isyfi antas
syafi la syafiya illa anta syifa'an la yughadiru saqaman.”
Mrs. Sarah : “Amen, thank you so much.”
Ns. Grace : “If you need anything, just call, all right?”
Mrs. Sarah : “Will do. Thanks again.”
Ns. Grace : “All right then. I’m taking my leave. Assalamu’alaikum wr wb.”
