Chapter 19: Ras Tanura The Second Time
In the spring of 1954, when I was transferred back to Ras Tanura,
Janet and Richard welcomed it as returning home. This time, we were
assigned House 2-B, later renamed 1630, on the second row from the
beachfront. From our dining room window, we looked across the neigh-
bors lawn to the green Persian Gulf. Our family was delighted with the
new house and new location. One of the most beautiful scenes in Ras
Tanura was when the moon was full. The moon would rise up from the
water and be a beautiful orange.
We had a very nice family life because we ate all three of our
meals together and we did things together as a family. Every Friday
morning we had LDS services in our living room. Rowland Corry, his
wife Claire, and son Larry attended until Larry went to the United States
for high school. Craig Wayman, his wife Meg, and their three children
attended regularly, though Meg never became a member of the Church.
We had occasional visitors. We once had a church conference of all the

experience on a ship tied up at the pier watching a movie outdoors. In
one instance, we were watching the movie when the event was inter-
