prevailed in Salt Lake. We heard they were paying $105.00 a month to
clerk-typists. At my urging, Jean applied and passed their test. Stan La-
kin thought she was foolish to pass up the bank job; I thought it foolish
to take it. Fortunately, Jean accepted my judgment and began working
at Fort Douglas. I was hoping to get into a graduate school in the fall but
wondered if that was realistic in view of war.
