lies within its ‘worshiping of idols’. Having an intimate
relationship with your spouse is not termed as adultery. What
we call adultery is sharing an intimate relationship with
someone other than your spouse. ‘The worship of idols’ is
an adultery to God. That is why God tells his people to not
commit adultery. Committing adultery hurts the heart of the
spouse, but at the same time it leaves a scar on the heart of
God. It may be arguable that the death of a spouse causes
greater stress, but in some aspect it may be the adultery that
causes greater stress. This is the greatest betrayal and an
unbearable pain.
Longing and desiring after the Holy Spirit in others is like
committing ‘adultery’. This is a betrayal and a disgrace to
the Holy Spirit who walks with me. It ignores and betrays the
Holy Spirit who is with me. “Pastor, it is simply because …
I cannot feel that the Holy Spirit is with me … that is why.”
Don’t make such a statement. Have you tried really hard?
Have you really de-sired the Holy Spirit, to be with you?
Were there ever times of solitude spent with the Holy Spirit?
Just because you can’t feel him, don’t go looking for the
Holy Spirit in others. Just because you haven’t discovered
the Holy Spirit in yourself, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist.
