stand up against his wis-dom or the spirit by whom he spoke”

(Acts 6:8-10).

Stephen did great wonders and miraculous signs when the
grace and power of the Holy Spirit manifested itself in full

measure. Not one person was able to overcome Stephen in
arguing. The power of the Holy Spirit had given Stephen a

surpassing wisdom over the others.
Deacon Philip’s story follows after the story of Stephen.

“Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed

the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the
miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what

he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and
many paralytics and cripples were healed. So there was great

joy in that city” (Acts 8:5-8).

Philip focused on delivering the message of Jesus to the
Samaritans, whom the Jews shunned. The signs of miracles

and wonders were done at the city of Samaria. The spirits
were cast out, the oppressed were set free from their paralysis

and the lame were made well. The great joy in the city of
Samaria came about through Philip.
