because of this sermon. The background of this historic

period revolved around Christians hiding from the high
priests and the soldiers, so that the Christians could wor-

ship in secret. Anyone caught would be exiled from the
community of Jews and in the worst case, could result in

a crucifixion. But surprisingly, the response of the people
differed than in the time of Jesus. With the words of Peter,

people were cut to the heart with guilt, and they began to
             repent.

“When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and

said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we
             do?” (Acts 2:37).

This is an amazing scene. Isn’t this the working of the Holy

Spirit’s power? To explain, it is not because of the words
of Peter, but by the Holy Spirit speaking through the lips of

Peter that the heart of the crowd was captivated. The number
of people who repented when receiving the forgiveness

of sins through the sermon of Peter, was 3,000. Isn’t it
incredible? Through a single sermon, its hearers numbering

thousands were transformed into the people of God.
Maybe there are some who would view with skepticism,
