1) The Holy Spirit and Gifts

Everyone desires to have the spiritual gifts. The reason
may be that the way of receiving the Holy Spirit has been

made available to anyone. In the age of the Old Testament,
only the chosen ones were able to receive the gifts of the

spirit. The gifts were usually given to the proph-ets or seers.
Therefore, common people did not even dream of receiving

the gifts of the spirit. However, as Jesus came to this earth, he
often spoke of the ‘Holy Spirit’. As he was ascending to the

heaven, a command to wait on the Holy Spirit was spoken.
And like the words of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was made

manifest to many people within just a few days.
The book of Acts, chapter 2 talks about the manifestation of

the Holy Spirit like that of a wind and fire.

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together
in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent

wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where
they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire

that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them
were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other
