in darkness but the side of the Israelites had light. Can you

grasp what this is saying? The pillar of cloud separat-ed the
Egyptian army and the Israelites, and the Pillar of Fire shined

upon the Israelites. Why did the pillar of Fire shine upon the
Israelites throughout the night? The Israelites needed light in

order to cross the sea. Without it, it would have been difficult
to cross the sea.

It was the working of the Pillar of Fire and Pillar of Cloud
together. The Bible states, “During the last watch of the

night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and
cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion”

(Exodus 14:24). The gathering of the Pillar of fire and cloud
happened at night, and is known to have been together until

the early morning.
As such, the pillar of Fire and Cloud worked together.

Even though the appearance of fire and cloud differ,
in representation of God’s glory, they are working in

conjunction with each other. If the pillar of Fire was used to
reveal the Glory of God, so was the pillar of Cloud. Moses

rec-orded that the tabernacle was so filled with the cloud that
he could not approach the Tent of Meeting.
