When leaving the land of Egypt, the people of Israel were

             led by the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud. The Israelites
             always saw and walked with the pillars of fire and cloud.


               “And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it.

             They have already heard that you, O LORD, are with these
             people and that you, O LORD, have been seen face to face,

             that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before
             them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night”

             (Numbers 14:4).


               This pillar of fire represents the guidance of God. The
             Israelites constructed the tabernac-le in the middle of the

             camp. The twelve tribes were divided in the groups of three
             on each side of the tabernacle. When the tabernacle moved,

             the Israelites also moved. The Israelites followed wherever
             the tabernacle led. If the Tabernacle settled, its people also

             settled there. This did not matter if it settled for days or many
             months. The movement was determined by following the

             tabernacle.
               The pillar of cloud and fire always stayed on the tabernacle.

             The lifting of the pillar of cloud from the tabernacle meant a
             signal. Whenever the pillar of cloud was lifted, the Levites
