6. The prayer of the spirit in New Testament
The people who prayed the prayer of the spirit are seldom
found in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit’s manifestation
became possible after the Pentecost. Strangely enough, the
Bible does not mention the people having walked with the
Holy Spirit. Is it because these things hap-pened without
being mentioned? Regardless, it is not easy to trace back the
footsteps of those who prayed the prayer of the spirit.
The prayer Jesus mentions is the prayer of the spirit. It is
probable that Peter, Jesus’ top disciple, prayed the prayer of
the spirit. Some of his prayers are mentioned. One of them is
Acts 10.
“About noon the following day as they were on their
journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof
to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and
while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He
saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let
down to earth by its four corners .It contained all kinds of
four-footed ani-mals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds
of the air.” (Acts 10:9-12)
