                                               Exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months old has been recommended as the best way to provide the nutrients needed by







                                               children in their early life. However, exclusive breastfeeding has not reached the target number. This can be caused by







                                               although mothers know the benefits of breastfeeding and have a positive attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding, culture is







                                               more influential than knowledge and attitudes. The purpose of this study was to identify the culture related to breastfeeding







                                               in Balinese society. This study used a qualitative research method, using purposive sampling and snowball. In-depth







                                               interviews were conducted face-to-face at the participants' homes. Participants were 20 mothers who had babies in the North







                                               Badung area, Bali. All interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using a content analysis approach. Five







                                               major themes were identified: (a) Postnatal culture; (b) Support for breastfeeding mothers; (c) Infant feeding; (d)







                                               Breastfeeding problems; and (e) Efforts to promote breastfeeding. The culture that exists in the community can support or







                                               hinder the process of exclusive breastfeeding. However, the culture can be modified according to current developments.







                                               Nurses and other health workers must work together and negotiate in a culture to support parents and communities to







                                               maximize exclusive breastfeeding to improve infant health.
