As one of the supporters of the health sector, Emergency Room (ER) nurses are the first medical personnel to be in
contact with Covid-19 patients in hospitals. The novelty of this disease became a challenge for ER nurses, so that it
has an impact on their health status. The identified impact can be in the form of fatigue and work-related stress
from handling patients and the risk of transmission. Even though the impact has been identified, there are no
related data or research to assess this condition in ER nurses at Covid-19 referral hospitals in Bali. The purpose of
this study was to analyze the impact of Covid-19 on fatigue and work stress of ER nurses at the Covid-19 referral
hospital in Bali. This research is a quantitative study using the Observational Analytic method and conducted at 11
Emergency Rooms for Covid-19 referral hospital using the Proportional Random Sampling technique with a Cross
Sectional approach. The results showed that from 206 ER nurses participated in filling out the questionnaire in this
study, 94 ER nurses (45.6%) experienced acute fatigue, and 125 nurses (60.6%) experienced work stress in the
mild category. In terms of the relationship, the existence of the Covid-19 pandemic has a relationship (p<0.05) to
the occurrence of ER nurses’ fatigue and work-related stress with a power of relationship are 0.266 and 0.322,
respectively. During the covid-19 pandemic, ER nurses face new conditions, dynamic change of conditions,
constantly changing regulations, uncertainty about personal protective equipment, overcrowding in wards, fear of
contagion all of which will increase their fatigue and work-related stress. Nevertheless, with good management and
adequate support, also the rewards given for treatment process, ER nurses are able to adapt to all these challenges
which shown on low score fatigue and the mild range work-related stress they feel.
