SMH COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic: Screener
Responsibilities:
1) Screen all patients in accordance with COVID-19 screening questions.
2) Confirm patient has scheduled appointment.
3) Monitor and maintain flow into the vaccination clinic.
PPE: Mask, Face shield, gown & gloves
Role Description:
1) Greet patient. Ask patient what they are here for today. If they state they are
here for their vaccination, proceed with screening.
2) Instruct patient to perform hand hygiene.
3) Obtain patient’s name and check their appointment time in Verto application.
a) If patient is more than 10 minutes early for their appointment:
• IF there is room in the registration line, the screener may use their
discretion whether to allow the patient early entry.
• IF there is no room in the registration line, the screener should
request they return closer to the time of their appointment.
b) If patient does not have an appointment, contact the manager. Explain
that vaccines are available by appointment only at this time, and direct
them to exit through revolving door. See 8b for more guidelines on early
arrivals.
4) If patient is not wearing a medical mask, provide them with one.
5) Direct patient to registration area.
6) Additional duties:
a) Monitor the line-up for registration.
• If the number of patients in line exceeds 8, ask the security guard outside
to temporarily halt admitting patients. Ask the security guard to resume
when the line is less than 8 people.
