NEWS CORPORATION
In June 2008, Security Management Systems was contracted to build a new security command
center for News Corporation’s Headquarters.
SMS deployed a hybrid Verint solution leveraging the existing analog cameras and
communication infrastructure. The existing analog cameras were integrated with Verint
encoders and the Nextiva Platform for recording and video management. A 60 terabyte SAN
storage device is attached for video archiving.
The command center architecture includes multiple plasma displays which are driven by both a
virtual matrix and Verint decoders for an IP/analog system with best-in-class flexibility.
In addition, a new fiber optic – Ethernet backbone was designed for expansion for both the
surveillance and access control systems. Managed switches control the flow of video and data
and allow for new Verint IP cameras {which are Power over Ethernet} to communicate directly
to the Verint Video Management System.
This enterprise solution is the basis for News Corp’s ability to manage its continually expanding
facility management and surveillance needs.
