PETER COOPER VILLAGE
Completed in 1947, “Stuy Town” is a sprawling collection of red-brick
apartment buildings spanning from 23rd Street to 14th Street and from
1st Avenue to Avenue C on Manhattan’s East Side. This 80-acre site
encompasses 110 buildings with over 11,000 apartments and 25,000
tenants.
In the Spring 2006, Security Management Systems was commissioned to
install an integrated access control and CCTV System incorporating over
953 access control doors and 1,096 cameras.
The system architecture includes the development of a new Security
Command Center utilizing a fiber-optic backbone for the communication of
access control, digital video, and emergency voice over IP call boxes.
The architecture incorporates the latest technology in digital video storage
including video analytics, mega pixel cameras, and an integrated access
control system and has become a benchmark for modern residential security.
