Using these prefixes, a milligram (mg) for example is 1000x smaller than a g;

similarly, a g is 1000x smaller than a kilogram (kg).

Other common prefixes include:

- Centi- meaning one hundredth (0.01)

- Micro- meaning one millionth (0.000001)

- Nano- meaning one billionth (0.000000001)
