This procedure provides good improvement in continence in around
65% of cases used alone or around 80% of cases if used in conjunction
with oral medication such as phenylpropanolamine or diethystilboestrol.
To date, the numbers of animals treated is relatively small, however, and
more experience is required to offer a more accurate prognosis. Many
of these cases have concurrent USMI and will require additional proce-
dures such as colposuspension or peri-urethral injections of collagen to
improve continence further.
