Cytokines
Under the influence of bacterial products such as
lipopolysaccharides, neutrophils produce many different cytokines
such as IL-1, TNF-α, IL-6, CXCL8, IL-10, and transforming growth
factor-β (TGF-β). Although individual neutrophils produce only
small amounts of these cytokines, they invade inflammatory sites in
enormous numbers, so their total contribution may be significant.
