• Depress the plunger to give the injection. Considerable pressure may be required to inject
VetBooks.ir thick antibiotic suspensions. In order to prevent the needle and syringe being forced
apart, hold the joint between them with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand
(Figure 25.11d)
• Withdraw the needle. Do not be alarmed if there is a trickle of blood from the injection
site
• Avoid the temptation to pat the horse at the injection site immediately afterwards as it
may be tender.
