Injecting into the neck (method 2)
This technique is particularly useful for young and fractious animals:
• leave the needle attached to the filled syringe and remove the cap
• with the left hand, grasp a fold of skin close to the injection site (Figure 25.12a)
• gently, but deliberately, slide the needle through the skin and deep into the muscle
• draw the plunger back to check that no blood is drawn into the syringe and proceed with
the injection (Figure 25.12b).
