Ground Defence
On the Ground
Situation One: You have been
pushed over and have landed on your
back. Your assailant has moved to the
side and is about to deliver a head kick.
1) Pivot and throw a hard low
roundhouse kick into his calf.*

2) Roll backwards and get to your feet,
ensuring that you keep a tight guard
with your hands as you do so.

*It is important to ‘go through’ the
target (his lower leg) with as much
speed and power as you can and knock
his leg out from under him. Once you
have gained your feet, slam a
roundhouse into his thigh to prevent
him continuing his attack.
