Day 6: On to Kenmare via Adare. Depart Gregans Castle and proceed with your driver 1 hr 30
min to Adare, located in County Limerick. Take a leisurely walk through the village, which
features a picturesque center. The surrounding
area offers thatched cottages, medieval
buildings and lush countryside on the Maigue
River. Much of the village was built to
support the manor, a baronial, 1,000-acre
estate and former home of the earls of
Dunraven (now the five-star Adare Manor).
Other things to do in Adare include visiting
the ruins of Desmond Castle, an Anglo-
th
Norman fortress built in the 13 century, with
th
additions made until the 19 century. Other
th
historic buildings include the 15 century Franciscan Friary and the Augustinian Priory, which
th
was built in the 14 century, but underwent renovations during the 19th century. We recommend
having lunch in Adare before continuing just under 2 hrs to your accommodations in Kenmare.
Consider dinner on property tonight or in town at Packie’s.
Proposed Accommodations for 2 nights: Park Hotel Kenmare, a stately former railroad hotel
located in a majestic position on the edge of town overlooking the Bay of Kenmare and the Caha
Mountains
Day 7: Golf at Waterville and the Sights of Killarney. It will be an early start for the gents
today with a reserved tee time of 8:30 a.m. at Waterville Golf Links, one of the iconic links of
Ireland and 1 hr 15 min from your accommodations. Set in a stunning, remote location
surrounded by water, Waterville holds a spot on many a golf enthusiast’s “bucket list” and will
be worth the early start!
After collecting the gents at 6:45 a.m. and leaving them off at Waterville, your driver/guide will
return to pick up the ladies at 9:30 a.m. for a morning exploring the Killarney area where we
suggest a visit to the nineteenth-century estate of Muckross House. The expansive, lakefront
grounds are magnificent and reason enough to visit the estate. The Victorian mansion is set
against the stunning beauty of Killarney National Park. The house stands close to the shores of
Muckross Lake, one of Killarney's three lakes famed worldwide for their splendor and beauty.
