Waterville: Waterville is simultaneously old
and new. While a course has been on the site
since 1889, Waterville was completely
reworked in 1973 by Eddie Hackett, renovated
in 1987 by Tom Doak and recently touched by
Tom Fazio. As such, it will feel quite new,
especially when compared to the likes of
Lahinch and Ballybunion. Nevertheless,
Waterville is a delightful challenge, as its
natural setting forces you to keep the ball out of
the rough and between the dunes while
demanding length off the tee. When the winds blow sideways, break out your calculator!
