Day 2: The Genius of Antoni
Gaudi. Today, your Barcelona guide
will share with you the masterworks
of Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926), the
famed architect best known for his
distinctive style, which was greatly
influenced by forms of nature. Gaudi
was the chief figure in the Modernist
movement. During this private guided
tour, you will visit Gaudi’s most
famous work, the Sagrada Familia
temple, which was consecrated by
Pope Benedict in 2010 and is still
under construction more than 100
years after building began. Gaudi
devoted 44 years of his life to this
single structure and it is one of the
symbols of the city. You will also
visit Parc Guell, a relaxing spot in the
north of the city featuring various
Gaudi-designed structures and
sculptures plus fine views, as well as
the house in which the architect lived
for a number of years. And, finally,
you will visit Gaudi’s La Pedrera
(also known as Casa Mila), located on the Passeig de Gracia near Casa Fuster. This structure
was built in the early twentieth century to house apartments and commercial offices. Admission
to Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and La Pedrera is included. Spend the afternoon at leisure.
