Objectives
On completion of this chapter you should be able

• Define strategy and understand the key strategic terms.
• Explain the differences between global strategic management
and domestic management.
• Identify the different perspectives on strategy creation.
Businesses are created by man to exploit market opportunities. To
achieve this successfully they require information. Information inputs, in
whatever form, allows the maximisation of opportunities, the minimisation
of weaknesses, the negation of threats, and the exploitation of
opportunities. Essentially, this implies that the organisation responds
positively to changes it detects in its environment.
