Year 1: As an examination at this stage there is no published
solution that students might access. Therefore, the integrity
of the examination process is maintained.
Year 2: Likewise, using the case for assessed coursework in
the second year still maintains its assessment integrity.
Year 3: The case may now be used in a tutorial situation
where its nuances may be examined in depth and the value
of the teaching notes utilised.
The shelf-life of the case study is about five years after that
period it begins to lose its currency.
Case & Solution Structures
A business case does not have to be a written document. It
could be in the form of a verbal message, but the structure
and the content is, nevertheless, the same as if it were
written up.
We all present and hear business cases all the time, with our
children, parents, significant others, friends, and colleagues.
The following represents what a case is and what its
structure tends to, or tries to generate as a solution
framework.
Structure
Executive Summary
Always written last, the Executive Summary presents the
essence of the business case, in a condensed format.
