Step One
Read The Case Quickly
Most cases require at least two readings, more often more; the first reading should
involve familiarising yourself with the basic situation.
• Who are the key players?
• What are the issues and what are their causes?
• What do the exhibits indicate?
• What is the focus of the questions set e.g. do they indicate a marketing, finance or operations
focus.
Read to obtain an overview of the industry, the company, the people, and the situation.

Identifying what appears to be the major underlying issues/problems in the case
