Dental Therapy Proponent Arguments/Claims

1. Increase access to oral healthcare in underserved
communities due to practice requirements specified in

legislation.

2. Increase patient capacities by allowing dental therapist to

take over procedures usually done by dentist, therefore
allowing practices to serve more Medicaid, low-income

or other communities lacking access to oral healthcare.

3. Quality of care is safe and equivalent to that of a dentist,

and dental therapist training/education is sufficient.
