I was fortunate to already have a foundation in
psychology, guided imagery, the “Tapping
Techniques” and other therapeutic approaches.

This unexpected jail challenge in 2006 allowed me
to separate what worked in “extreme” situations
vs. what was useful for everyday life.

When I was finally, and almost literally, kicked out
of jail, I was in shock, in a daze, not functional at all.

For 6 months, I had been cold, hungry, sleep-

deprived, had seen inmates beaten, was separated
from my children, and the inhumanity of the jail
environment left deep scars in my psyche.

My daughter came to pick me up in California,

where I had been transferred from the Las Vegas
