                   Reston:
                       • Fairfax County. The Reston office has built a successful relationship with Fairfax County
spanning more than a decade. In 2022 we successfully completed Fairfax County Fire and
Rescue Station No. 25 – Reston. The station was originally constructed in 1975 and had
reached the end of its useful life. Utilizing the existing one-acre site, the county, fire
department, and design team collaborated on a solution to balance the need for a larger
4-bay fire station and staff and visitor parking, while also meeting the County SWM
requirements. The “Quarter House,” as it is affectionately referred to by the staff, is a $10M,
17,000 sf facility implementing both Hot Zone and Immersive design principles to improve
the health and wellness of the crew. To meet the County sustainability goals, the facility
was designed to LEED Silver standards, with the ability to achieve LEED Gold once the PV
                          panels are installed.

To further our work with the County, we were also awarded a Basic Order Agreement
(BOA) by Fairfax County Building and Design Branch, for a one-year term renewable for
four years. The Reston office currently holds a BOA with Fairfax County Housing and
Community Development and has held previous BOA’s with the Building Design Branch
under which we completed numerous public safety feasibility studies.

Continuing our collaboration with the County, we are currently completing design
documents for the new approx. $11.5M 14,285 sf, two bay Fairfax County Fire and Rescue
Station No. 23-West Annandale. The design also includes an off-site temporary fire station
created through the adaptive re-use of an existing bank facility. Construction is expected
                          to commence in 2024.
                       • Burton Station Fire and EMS Station. As part of our strategic growth through design
partnerships, the Reston office is working with Dills Architects on the construction of a new
$4.9M, 18,000 sf Fire and EMS Station located in Virginia Beach, VA. Designed to address
increased urban development and associated emergency response, the new 3-bay station
provides accommodations for up to 16 staff per shift. The design incorporates
red/yellow/green design principles to manage exposure to contaminants in the station, as
well as the use of single user toilets and individual bunkrooms to allow for gender
neutrality and to minimize sleep deprivation. The station also provides a multi-purpose
Community Room that will serve as a group training space for fire/EMS staff while also
providing space for outside community groups. Completion is expected in summer 2023.
                       • Concord Township Fire Stations. As a result of our participation in national fire station
design conferences, and our on-going thought leadership promoting improved health and
wellness of emergency responders, we were awarded the design of Concord Fire Stations
No. 1 and No. 2. Priorities driving the design of the new stations included improved
response time, a focus on the health and safety of the firefighters, as well as on-site
                          training. Station No. 1 is a new $9M 23,000 sf, 4-bay single-story station with a training
tower and emergency storm shelter which is currently under construction. Station No 2 is a
smaller 11,000 sf, 2-bay single-story station accommodating up to 6 fire fighters per shift.
Construction is anticipated to start in 2023. Both facilities feature the latest in
red/yellow/green design principles. As part of our services, we also assisted the client in a
social media campaign and participated in community meetings to garner support for the
bond referendum needed to construct the facilities.
