CBC Youth Choir
Shout out to Torrey Brown, the Youth Choir Director, who led the youth choir going during and before the
pandemic. During the month of June, a bootcamp was in session weekly during the youth choir rehearsal.
The camp was designed to assess and identify various talents and skill sets in the choir and to increase the
expectation and cultivate the gifts in our youth. I was proud to witness and assist our youth leaders and
youth in carrying out tasks that spoke, challenged, and cultivated the creative abilities in youth leadership,
vocal abilities, spiritual formation, acting, creative attire designs, and other areas that allows youth to be
youth. At the end of the camp our youth and parents received evaluations after that fast-track project that
provided feedback for the future productivity of our youth.
Little Voices of Cornerstone
Shout out to Katrina Battles, the Children’s Choir Director, for her many years of service. As we all know…the
pandemic has been extremely difficult and has affected our little ones. Again, after more than two years of
the pandemic our children are back! Dr. Carla Swan stepped in as the Interim Children’s Choir Director and
has been leading our children. Numbers and excitement are increasing weekly. Thanks to Katrina for her sup-
port and Sis. Laquita Reed, our new Children’s Admin person.
The Worship Ministry facilitated the first ever Hymn Fest hosted at Cor-
nerstone in June 2022 and we hosted the Juneteenth Celebration that
featured the Grandmother of Juneteenth, Ms. Opal Lee.
