Page 23 - MOVING THROUGH AIR
P. 23
2. In the beginning Father God said to Adam and Eve, “Be fruitful and multiply.”
He wanted the whole earth full of people whom he could love and who would
love him. He made them able to reproduce (make others) once they were
grown-up or mature. He did not keep making people out of the dirt and
breathing up their nostrils!
Out of Adam and Eve’s lives came other lives - they gave their life to their
children and cared for them until they were grown-up.
3. This is true for all living things. Show the children through pictures,
videos/DVDs, living examples (plants or pets!) a range of living things and their
young.
4. Ask why the earth is not over-crowded with plants and animals.
In this way lead the children to see that all living things die (once-living)
whether plants, animals or people.
5. The Bible says that ‘.there is a time to be born and there is a time to die..’
(Ecclesiastes 3:2). God knows when each of us will die just as he knew when
we would be born! He even knows when sparrows die (Matthew 10:29)
although they are not as precious to him as we are.
6. Illustrate the pattern set by God in creation:
born → grow → reproduce → die
Dramatise with a fun game - call out each stage in any order and the children
have to perform the appropriate action.
7. The good news for people is that if we choose to make Jesus our King we
share in his eternal life, so that death is not the end for us but the door into
God’s endless life. Illustrate with a short piece of string (representing a
human life) and the ball of string (representing God’s life). Tie the short piece
onto the long piece to show someone being born-again, sharing God’s life.
8. Let the children complete the worksheet. Thank God for our endless life.
