LIVING LIFE TO THE FULL

            Truth to Teach (Source)

Psalm 23 God protects and provides for us.

Psalm 145:7 ‘They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of
                                  your righteousness.’

 We were made to experience life in relationship with God and so to enjoy it

                    fully and safely.

 God has given people five senses with which to experience the wonder of being

alive in God’s world and to help them to live safely as God’s children.

 Plants and animals have some senses, which help them to survive - live safely.

            Way to Work (Means)

It would be a wonderful opportunity to have a day of senses-related activities, so
that this topic could be more fully explored in a hands-on way. If such an event is

not possible, however, there is a suggested lesson plan below.

                 1. How would we know if there was a fire in the school? Lead the children to
name the senses involved in fire detection and then consider whether animals
                     or plants could detect fire.

Explain that God has given all living things senses, so that they can survive -
live safely. God wants the earth full of living things.
Review last week’s lesson emphasising the role God gave man in caring for
                     creation.

                 2. Plants cannot smell and taste but they can sense water, light and some plants
can even sense touch (e.g. Venus fly-trap).

Animals have similar senses to people but they may use different parts of
their body from us e.g. a snake will smell with its tongue, bats and dolphins
