        Truth to Teach

              To contrast Roman and Christian armour


        Ephesians 6:11        ‘Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the
                              Devil’s schemes.’

        Way to Work


        1.     Review the previous lesson.

        2.     Sing the song by Ishmael ‘We are in God’s Army’.


        3.     Show pictures of Roman soldiers and a picture of David (no armour) fighting Goliath.
               Contrast the two sets of pictures and the two kinds of armour in the Empire and the
               Kingdom.

                              Emperors as captains                       Jesus as Captain
                              Anyone can join                            Anyone can join
                              Wear visible armour                        Wear invisible armour

                              Britons were the enemies                   Satan is our enemy
                              25 years’ service                          Eternal service
                              Won and lost battles                       Jesus is victorious


        4.     Read and discuss Ephesians 6:10-18 before letting the children complete the
               worksheet.

        5.     End by reviewing the lesson and praying that we will all remember to put on our

               spiritual armour daily.

        Learning for Life

        The children will be more aware of the need for us to put on our spiritual armour daily to

        protect us from the attacks of the enemy. They should have understood the significance of
        the passage in Ephesians and its link to Roman armour.
