ROMAN ARMOUR
Truth to Teach
To contrast Roman and Christian armour
Ephesians 6:11 ‘Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the
Devil’s schemes.’
Way to Work
1. Review the previous lesson.
2. Sing the song by Ishmael ‘We are in God’s Army’.
3. Show pictures of Roman soldiers and a picture of David (no armour) fighting Goliath.
Contrast the two sets of pictures and the two kinds of armour in the Empire and the
Kingdom.
Eg Empire Kingdom
Emperors as captains Jesus as Captain
Anyone can join Anyone can join
Wear visible armour Wear invisible armour
Britons were the enemies Satan is our enemy
25 years’ service Eternal service
Won and lost battles Jesus is victorious
4. Read and discuss Ephesians 6:10-18 before letting the children complete the
worksheet.
5. End by reviewing the lesson and praying that we will all remember to put on our
spiritual armour daily.
Learning for Life
The children will be more aware of the need for us to put on our spiritual armour daily to
protect us from the attacks of the enemy. They should have understood the significance of
the passage in Ephesians and its link to Roman armour.
