Page 66 - FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFE: THE ROMAN EMPIRE AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD
P. 66
History Year 3 and Year 4
Praise and worship
Way to Work
1. Review previous lesson by letting the children complete the first part of the
worksheet.
2. Let the children find the hidden clues around the room to explain why the Empire
collapsed.
3. Gather back to discuss the collapse, contrasting it with the Kingdom which continues.
Refer to the passages above and to Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the statue in
Daniel 2:31-45. (It is thought that the iron legs refer to the Roman Empire.) Stress
the importance of prophecy and of reading God’s word as a ‘His Story’ book.
4. Let the children complete the worksheet then show them the final one which will be
given for homework as a competition to see who can produce the most decorative
crown.
5. End the lesson by reviewing the main points of the teaching then by praising the Lord
for his everlasting Kingdom.
Learning for Life
It is hoped that the children will see that although evil appears to triumph, God is in
control. He will only allow events to continue as long as he permits; he will bring good out of
what appears to be evil.
