Science Y3/Y4 – Forces – overview

                                                        FORCES

        Truth to Teach (Source)

Colossians 1:16-17 ‘For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible ….. all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things and in
                       him all things hold together.’

              1. To appreciate that God made all that is visible and invisible, including forces.

              2. To recognise forces including water, wind, magnetism, friction, gravity, electricity.

              3. To learn about Newton’s and Galileo’s work on forces.

              4. To learn more about gravity and friction.

              5. To appreciate that objects have weight because of the force of gravity.

              6. To conduct experiments using plumb-lines.

              7. To learn about the centre of gravity.

              8. To appreciate ways of using and overcoming forces.

              9. To learn that objects need a push or a pull to move.

              10. To conduct experiments of different kinds of shoes to find the safest to wear.

              11. To find out what is pushed and pulled on a bicycle.

              12. To carry out experiments on slopes, rollers, levers, pulleys, gears and wheels.
