JESUS NEVER CHANGES
Truth to Teach (Source)
Hebrews 13:8 ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.’
¾ Jesus, his nature, his word, his presence and his example remain unchanged
through the passage of time.
¾ Change is apparent in the physical world around us and in lifestyle.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review previous lesson.
2. You know that maths has to do with numbers, and English has to do with reading and
writing; history has to do with what happened in the past, and with old things.
History is not about the present or the future. It is about the past.
Today you are going to be like ‘history detectives’! You are going to try and find
out a little more about what it was like to have lived at the beginning of the last
century. Explain that we are in a new millennium. It was 19… but now it is 20…
Your grandparents were probably about your age in the 1940’s. Refer to a time line.
3. Using a selection of pictures or books of old items and scenes, split the class into
smaller groups with an adult helper and ask the children to look carefully at the
pictures and tell the adult what differences they notice. (They may also note any
similarities too.)
(Ginn ‘All Aboard’ – non-fiction titles ‘Toys Now and Then’ and ‘When Gran was a
Girl’ are useful.)
4. Gather together again. Did anybody notice any things that had not really changed in
the last 60 years? (People need to cook and wash and sleep, etc. That is how God
has made people to be.)
What sort of changes did you history detectives discover? List these on the board
as a mind-map. Branches could go out from each subject to suggest ways in which
changes have occurred. Other branches could be added, eg homes, schools,
churches
