Punctuation serves the listener and reader of language by

           Way to Work (Means)

                 1. Review the previous lessons.

                 2. Remind the children that identifying punctuation mistakes needs
                      an alert mind.

Detectives are always looking for clues when they try to solve

mysteries. Punctuation Detectives look for missing, or inaccurate,
                      punctuation.

Emphasise the fact that punctuation serves the reader and
listener by bringing order into spoken and written English.

                 3. Put lots of different sentences on the board to reinforce past
teaching and to address common mistakes being made by the

                      children in their writing.

                 4. Remind the children of the need to put capital letters at the start

of sentences, for proper nouns, and within some speech marks.
