 Review some of Y1 and Y2 grammar work

Way to Work (Means)

1. Show the children a memory stick used to store computer files, etc. Ask if anyone knows what
it is and what it is used for. Discuss the way that it is used to back up information in case a
computer goes wrong.

2. Talk about God giving us amazing brains rather like a computer. We need to refresh our
memories by going through what we have learnt from time to time.

3. Spend time reviewing some of the Y1 and Y2 work orally. E.g.

• The alphabet
• Vowels
• Animal homes
• Months of the year
• Occupations
• Common names, proper names

4. Explain that quizzes can refresh our memories and cause us to remember things.
Let the children try the quiz sheet.

5. More able children may like to devise a quiz for their friends on a chosen subject covered in
the class over the year, e.g. a project or science topic.

6. Gather back to share answers and refresh the memories of those who have forgotten some of
the work.

Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

1. The children should have reinforced some of the grammar topics learned in Y1 and Y2.
