QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Truth to Teach (Source)
Matthew 7:7 ‘Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the
door will be opened to you.’
God encourages us to make requests and to ask for answers in faith.
To review (from Y1) questions and question marks
To review (from Y1) asking questions politely
Way to Work (Means)
1. Ask the following questions:-
• Mum, please may I sleep over at Megan’s house tonight?
• Were there dinosaurs on Noah’s ark?
• Jesus, why didn’t you heal my nanny?
a) Some are requests, e.g. Mum, please may I sleep over at Megan’s house tonight? They
are usually easy to answer,
b) Some questions need knowledge, e.g. Dad, were there dinosaurs on Noah’s ark?
c) Some questions e.g. Jesus, why did you not heal my nanny? This will probably only be
answered fully in heaven.
2. Talk about God knowing everything; he welcomes the questions on our hearts, he wants us to
ask for things and to ask about things. He may answer directly or he may guide someone to
us who can give an answer, e.g. parents, pastor, teachers, etc. Sometimes, however, Jesus
will only tell us as much as we need to know and we have got to trust him about that.
3. Discuss polite and appropriate ways of asking questions with the use of ‘please’.
4. Show the children flashcards with question words on them for them to read: -
how, when , what, why, where, when, which
5. Let the children suggest questions they may like to ask Jesus or other people starting with
one of the above words.
Write some on the board to see if the children remember to ask for the question mark to be
added. Ensure that they know that no full stop is needed as well.
