            Genesis 1 God’s creation

James 1:17 ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above ……..’

Job 28 ‘There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined…..’

1 Timothy 6:17 ‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put

their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who
richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.’

Exodus 31:1-5 God gives man skill, ability and knowledge to use his resources.

Acts 2:44-45 ‘All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.’

 To increase knowledge, appreciation and stewardship of the amazing variety of resources
created by God for us to use to meet our needs in a way that will glorify him.

 To appreciate that it is God’s heart for man to develop these resources with a spirit of
responsibility, stewardship, creativity and concern for the welfare of others.

 God regards material possessions as of subsidiary importance to life. (Matthew 6:25-33)

 To discover more about the qualities of the earth’s resources recognising that some are
renewable and some are not in the foreseeable future.

 To appreciate that the value of resources change and that resources have different
                values to different nations.

 To recognise that the trading of resources between nations has not always been fair and just
resulting in some nations enjoying wealth and others suffering poverty.
