             Commas are used to: -

        Put commas in this passage.

        The sports trainer   Mr Betts made me do press-ups   jogging   jumping and

        weight-lifting.  He said “Come on Jack lift those knees up when you are

        jogging.”  “I am doing my best Mr Betts”


        I answered politely.   “When we are at sports training   Jack you can call me Tom” said Mr

        Betts.  We all worked well together despite being tired.  When Saturday came we were all

        ready for the match at Twickenham in London where all important matches are played.


        Amazingly we won so all our training was worthwhile.

        Add commas to these sentences to make the meaning clear.

        1.  My aunty Jane is a netball trainer. (Speaking to Jane)

        2. I planned for you to go with Steve James. (James is to go with Steve.)

        3.  Children who are naughty should be disciplined. (Only some children are naughty.)

        4.  For morning coffee cakes and biscuits were made. (Cakes and biscuits were served at the
                                                                                coffee morning.)

        Write sentences with the following to show the use of commas: -

        a)  A list of days of the week.

         Count the commas in John 20:10-18. Note also the phrases and clauses in the passage.
