Overview of Y2 Spring Term Part 1

Stimulate and elicit ideas of what the setting might be like, writing key words on the board
as prompts and as a help with spelling. Encourage the children to describe the setting, eg

                    • I noticed…
                    •  There was.../there were...;
                    • It was…They were…
                    • I could see ….

                    • I could hear….
                    • I touched ….It felt….It tasted….
                    • I felt….

Then go on to write what happened….
Who did you meet? What did they say? What did you do? Etc.

Invite the children to start writing and be available for individuals who need some extra help.

        Part two: Completing the story
Review how the previous week’s stories have gone and consider together how stories might
come to a satisfactory conclusion, with wrongs righted, troubles overcome, people blessed,

        etc.

The issue of timing can hasten the ending of a story, e.g. Just at that moment…

Encourage the children to finish their story, having returned to their normal setting.

Encourage the children to now think of a suitable title for their story.

Week 5: Finding an injured animal

Stewardship and Servanthood: We can express God’s heart by caring for and stewarding
        creatures in their habitats.

Some may have experience of this whilst others may need to use their imagination.

                 • What did you find? Where was it?
                 • What did you do?

                 • How did you care for it? Food. Bed.
                 • What happened in the end?
