Page 16 - FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFE; EXPLORING GOD’S UNIVERSE
P. 16

After tapping a tuning fork on your hand put it into a glass of water. The water will shake
from the vibrations of the tuning fork. Sound passes through water five times as fast as
through air. Sounds underwater seem louder.

Talk about some materials being good insulators of sound and some being good
                     conductors of sound.

            8. Give the children boxes of different materials to devise experiments to see which
materials are conductors and which are insulators.

            9. Let the children share and record their findings.

            10. Review the main teaching points of the lesson.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

The children will have gained more factual information about sound but should also realise the
responsibility they have to reduce sound pollution in order to steward the environment for God.
