        6.     Try to imagine what our nation would have been like had Alfred not been an obedient,
               courageous Christian, willing to fight the Danes. Talk about the need for us to be

               obedient to God, using his word like a plumb-line (show them one and explain its use).

        The pupils will have gained experience in discussing historical events and lives from a
        Christian worldview.  The importance of scripture as a plumb-line in making judgements will
        hopefully remain with them.
